SESSIONS
1-1 sessions for adults.
Location: Hengistbury Head, Dorset.
As part of the assessment I offer several sessions online before therapy takes place outside.
The assessment process helps to identify your goals for therapy and if this approach is right for you.
IS THIS TYPE OF THERAPY RIGHT FOR YOU?
I welcome individual's from all walks of life.
You may be suffering with depression, anxiety, stress, going through difficult life changes / transitions, dealing with burnout from work, or struggling with unresolved trauma.
If working with trauma, we will focus on safety & stabilisation.
This will include identifying your resources and helping you to make sense of your psychological & physiological experiences and coping mechanisms. We will then navigate what you need to heal & recover at your own safe pace. This doesn't always mean you have to tell your story.
It is important to disclose any physical & psychological conditions / issues. This is so we can assess if walk & talk therapy is right for you at this time.
WHAT WILL YOU NEED FOR OUTSIDE WORK?
Be prepared to embrace the British weather - being open to explore and invite the elements. However, if weather conditions prevent safe work outside (eg, heavy rain, storm, or too hot) - we will arrange to meet online.
Make sure you wear sensible shoes / boots depending on the season.
You don't have to walk far if you don't wish to. We will walk at your own pace.
Sessions can include sitting on a bench, walking on paths, or taking a stroll on the beach.
SELF-CARE FOR YOU & THE PLANET
A key part of the therapeutic process will focus on your self-care and care for the planet. This won’t be imposed upon you, it will be something that you will naturally explore and make sense of as you embark on this journey.
CREATIVITY
You do not need to be 'good' at art, just an interest to explore your creative side (we all have an ability to be creative and sometimes it is just waiting to be discovered).
You will be encouraged to keep a creative journal as part of your therapeutic process - along with experimenting with photography, interacting creatively with natural objects and making notes during sessions.
During the first session we will talk about 'anchoring & safe place' using natural objects.
CONFIDENTIALITY
All notes will be stored securely and confidentially.
Therapy outside will naturally be different from working indoors. Therefore maintaining a safe and confidential space will be discussed prior to venturing outside.
